A week or so ago--they had this guy as a guest on The Howard Stern show----they sorta were gonna start out as a funny bit, but once the man told his story--it became a serious one---but this guy in the pic the link goes to--his testicles weigh in at nearly 75 pounds each----he has what they call "scrotal edema" with one of them having been injured then they began to almost literally explode in size---within a day, John said his balls had more than doubled in size and they continue to grow--with it being nearly two years since the initial injury.

Are they sure that this is not filiariasis? A lot of medics are unfamiliar with 'tropical' diseases. They cause the kind of oedema described.

Regardless, according to the interview his balls do not produce any testosterone so he must have to inject if required. He might just as well have the problem 'naturals' removed and a prosthetic pair inserted.

He never hardly left his apartment in the US before this due to other health issues and he recalls when he hit his one ball that caused all the problems---if you listen to the audio of the segment--he tells of how it started.

If you listen to the story too--he says he is prepared for them to cut his balls and cock off if that is what they need to do to "cure" him.

His worst problem is that he has absolutely zero access to health care other than his local free clinic and they don't know how to deal with him--the same for the hospital ER he went to initially.

The health professionals do agree that he needs treatment, but since he doesn't have much of an income other than some minimal sort of government aid, the specialists won't treat him and they all punt him off to some other entity----entities not equipped to deal with him for a variety of reasons.

Thanks Voltie. The segments I managed to listen to were obvioulsy incomplete. If trauma was the definite cause then internal strangulation is indicated with accompanying drop off in testosterone. If that is what is going on then he could be a whisker away from death resulting form semi-necrotic tissue.

A friend went through something similar when his daughter kicked him and he lost one. I met another in hospital who learnt how to untangle over time and was waiting for surgery to save him the trouble. Both suffered swellings but not to the extent of the present fellow. The only time I have encountered this degree of distension was with filiariasis. In countries where this is more common men are reluctant to have them removed as they see the condition as male enhancing. One more comment is that the bugs don't know the rules and with climate change and travel (by others) tropical diseases are finding their way into 'alien' lands.

No funding for treatment? Land of the free and home of the brave indeed.

With what this guy has and the disease you talked about here---neither one sounds like it is something we don't want to experience.

The one thing with the guy hitting is one ball and causing this---I never realized that a hit to the balls could cause such things---when doing things like playing baseball or other sports and taking a hit to the groin, everyone's reaction was a mix of "ooooooouch, that looks like it hurts!!" and everyone sorta thinks its funny, but glad it wasn't them who got hit there.

I never did realize that getting hit there could cause more difficulty than a few minutes of pain.

I do feel sorry for this guy--I hope that since his story was made public by Howard Stern---someone benefactor will come forward and pay for the guy to get some decent medical treatment.
