Would like your thoughts on this IMHO stupid church stuff:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/02/22/1279622/-Mormons-Declare-War-on-Masturbation?detail=email
Earlier this month, Steveningen mentioned the hilarious story of the Mormon Church and Brigham Young University trying to get students to pressure each other to give up pocket pool. A PSA starring Brigham Young University president Kim B. Clark compares ignoring a masturbating roommate to leaving your war buddy behind on the battlefield:
"The enemy whispers 'Don’t get involved, it’s not your problem.' Brothers and sisters, don't leave the wounded on the battlefield."
1) Never touch the intimate parts of your body except during normal toilet processes. Avoid being alone as much as possible. Find good company and stay in this good company.
2) If you are associated with other persons having this same problem, you must break off their friendship. Never associate with other people having the same weakness. Don't suppose that two of you will quit together, you never will. You must get away from people of that kind. Just to be in their presence will keep your problem foremost in your mind. The problem must be taken out of your mind for that is where it really exists. Your mind must be on other and more wholesome things.

3) When you bathe, do not admire yourself in a mirror. Never stay in the bath more than five or six minutes -- just long enough to bathe and dry and dress and then get out of the bathroom into a room where you will have some member of your family present.
4) When in bed, if that is where you have your problem for the most part, dress yourself for the night so securely that you cannot easily touch your vital parts, and so that it would be difficult and time consuming for you to remove those clothes. By the time you started to remove protective clothing you would have sufficiently controlled your thinking that the temptation would leave you.
5) If the temptation seems overpowering while you are in bed, get out of bed and go into the kitchen and fix yourself a snack, even if it is in the middle of the night, and even if you are not hungry, and despite your fears of gaining weight. The purpose behind this suggestion is that you get your mind on something else. You are the subject of your thoughts, so to speak.
6) Never read pornographic material. Never read about your problem. Keep it out of mind. Remember -- "First a thought, then an act." The thought pattern must be changed. You must not allow this problem to remain in your mind. When you accomplish that, you soon will be free of the act.
7) Put wholesome thoughts into your mind at all times. Read good books -- Church books -- Scriptures -- Sermons of the Brethren. Make a daily habit of reading at least one chapter of Scripture, preferably from one of the four Gospels in the New Testament, or the Book of Mormon. The four Gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John -- above anything else in the Bible can be helpful because of their uplifting qualities.
8) Pray. But when you pray, don't pray about this problem, for that will tend to keep it in your mind more than ever. Pray for faith, pray for understanding of the Scriptures, pray for the Missionaries, the General Authorities, your friends, your families, but keep the problem out of your mind by not mentioning it ever -- not in conversation with others, not in your prayers. keep it out of your mind!
9) Avoid being alone as much as possible. Find good company and stay in this good company.
1) Pray daily, ask for the gifts of the Spirit, that which will strengthen you against temptation. Pray fervently and out lout when the temptations are the strongest.
2) Follow a program of vigorous daily exercise. The exercises reduce emotional tension and depression and are absolutely basic to the solution of this problem. Double your physical activity when you feel stress increasing.
3) When the temptation to masturbate is strong, yell STOP to those thoughts as loudly as you can in your mind and then recite a prechosen Scripture or sing an inspirational hymn. It is important to turn your thoughts away from the selfish need to indulge.
4) Set goals of abstinence, begin with a day, then a week, month, year and finally commit to never doing it again. Until you commit yourself to never again you will always be open to temptation.
5) Change in behavior and attitude is most easily achieved through a changed self-image. Spend time every day imagining yourself strong and in control, easily overcoming tempting situations.
6) Begin to work daily on a self-improvement program. Relate this plan to improving your Church service, to improving your relationships with your family, God and others. Strive to enhance your strengths and talents.
7) Be outgoing and friendly. Force yourself to be with others and learn to enjoy working and talking to them. Use principles of developing friendships found in books such as How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
8) Be aware of situations that depress you or that cause you to feel lonely, bored, frustrated or discouraged. These emotional states can trigger the desire to masturbate as a way of escape. Plan in advance to counter these low periods through various activities, such as reading a book, visiting a friend, doing something athletic, etc.
9) Make a pocket calendar for a month on a small card. Carry it with you, but show it to no one. If you have a lapse of self control, color the day black. Your goal will be to have no black days. The calendar becomes a strong visual reminder of self control and should be looked at when you are tempted to add another black day. Keep your calendar up until you have at least three clear months.
10) A careful study will indicate you have had the problem at certain times and under certain conditions. Try and recall, in detail, what your particular times and conditions were. Now that you understand how it happens, plan to break the pattern through counter activities.

sounds like he had a real problem with not touching himself to have come up with all of this on the subject. Maybe he just really needed a little release.

Moralists tend to have all sorts of issues. The good thing is many of them are pretty kinky. I used to swap blow jobs with a guy who was at the time a youth director at a Baptist church. And he was pretty good. Just saying.

Curing chronic masturbation is easy. Every time you get the urge to masturbate, get someone to give you a blow job. Problem solved.

I'll never understand the goings on in someone's mind where they'd feel the need make an issue out of something like this. Not the original poster. I'm referring to the Mormon guy.

I live in a predominately mormon area. The government is controlled by them, the tv and radio is controlled by them. As people go, they are fine. They make good neighbors as long as you like neighbors who ignore everyone that is not in their cult. I do like that.
Honestly, my heart does not allow me to believe in organized religion, but I do respect others right to worship as they see fit. Mormons though... They take what I consider to be a fairly sketchy system (christianity), and throw a bunch of new whacky stuff in. The only believers in this system are the people that are fed this crap very young and constantly.
Mormon recruits usually last a fairly short time in the church, but even a short time brings in the cash. Recruitment is free. Church on Sunday, ALL day. Church on Wednesday, All evening. One day a week of volunteer work at the church, all day. All social outlets are with other mormons. Mormon business owners only hire other mormons. All those mormon recruiters you see cruising around on their bikes with the white shirt and tie, is ALL paid for by the parents. The church does not pay a penny. And any questions regarding the church are met with stern "want to join me on Sunday?" and "What do you believe in?" I have to hand it to the leadership. They have brainwashing down to a science and a huge cash cow. If you miss church, god forbid, they send someone to the house to collect the 15%. The collector is not paid. The church only has one (public) paid position. The church is simply a money gathering machine.
Any time you see any advise from any mormon, feel free to do the exact opposite, and be perfectly fine.
Any time you see any propaganda designed to make mormons look normal, it is bullshit.
SO..according to my rule of thumb, jerking off must be good for you. And I bet there are more PHD's out there that would agree than wouldn't.

Yes, know what you're talking about. I absolutely hate blue ball here as well. Being back on some of the meds I take has given me cause to enjoy use of porn a bit more as a result. Imagination is okay up to a point. Nice to have some visuals at times, even if it is self love. ;) So, yeah guess in some sense you'd call me a tosser or wanker. LOL Don't care. I'm human, have human needs and desires.
I think any person/group whom tries promoting views contrary to human nature and nature are fooling themselves. Rather stupid thinking to be arrogant enough to think one/group is the grand center of all and they are the absolute authority. Folks do what folks do. So, I digress no point feeding haters by hating myself. Rather love, love knows no fear. :)

"We would like to discuss religion with you."
"Fine, talk all you want. Know where I am. Doubt you have anything I have not heard and refused before."
"So you are going to refuse God's love for you?"
"I refuse your telling of it, not the love itself. You can talk all you want though. I am going to be busy, excuse me, keep up if you can."
"Well, is there any point to us discussing this with you, if you just reject what we say?"
"Bingo! Wow, you lot are rather smarter than the last batch! They kept rattling on about some fellow with pock marked lips and his take over of Arm and Hammer. Total nuts about something called rupture, them kooks would have talked all day. Shame the bus ran them off. You guys would have got on great."
"Oh, um ..."
"Hm?"
"Excuse us, we'll leave you now. You're a busy fellow."
"Yes, keep changing myself and making the world go round faster. Tough job really, you bozos keep showing up telling me about this god, that god. I heard him say he was I am. Well, here I am. So, I believe you are capable of finding the door. Watch the bus on your way out."
Yes, they seem to not comprehend being nice. I once had a pleasant conversation with a YHV Witness about how Hitler remained Catholic, and the Catholic Church supported his genocide of the Jews. He thought it rather interesting yet continued to suggest his group was different and would never support genocide. I asked if they adhered to merely the New Testament, or both books of the Bible. He said both. I said that his group then did support genocide. I suggested he read about Jericho as but one point of reference. There are other verses wherein the Christian God demands his "elect/chosen" to sack folks on land, kill all, demolish their temples, slaughter their livestock, erase the people in His name. But I digress as to remind Christians of this often stirs negative feelings, on my part as well as theirs.
I am highly aware that most if not all religions have done much the same. I use the illustration of Christians as they are the ones whom seem more prevalent in my life experiences. I do not seek to "target" them, merely that they are there. I could as easily plug in Jews doing the same, Muslims, Hindu, Rastafarian and so on. My point is, I dislike folks involved in any religion attempting to present themselves in wholly positive light. None of these beliefs, thoughts, exists with a negative side and to imply they do as some present is hypocrisy at best, blatant lying at worst in my perception.
And to what end usually? To control you by means of instilling fear, to take your money and indoctrinate you as a herd to work for the corporate or industrial world. The churches have their helpers too, public education, government. I see it all as an interconnected web leading back to the banker spiders. I think we ought to break free of such web, realize they create an illusion to draw our energy. They are vampires seeking to prolong their lives via feeding off our energy and fear. Ultimately it is they who are afraid, afraid of death. It has paralyzed them unto a point they do not live, and as is said, misery loves company. I say fuck that.
My religion is love. My god is known as balance, equivalence, Truth. I am the I am, got no need of anyone telling me the right I inherently know as right. Have no need of fear to weigh me to anything. And it is not fear which is a cause of my choosing to be discrete. It is respect, of self and others. Frankly, does it matter that I bed men and women? My religion is love, I love men and women. I love humanity, despite at times feeling a great urge to be a hermetic misanthrope. I harm none because those I bed, bed with me of their free will. They too love humanity. So, yeah, I say fuck that to religions. Religions just seem to cause strife. I have no need of that. Not sure why so many choose to need it.
Argh, you got me rambling gal. *hugs, nabs a smooch on the cheek* I really ought know better. Well, I shall wander on. I dumped me wee brain here enough.

Yes, if we thought and were taught critical thought, lots of "problems" would vanish. I keep delving inward. Have taken up writing again, which is becoming akin to a meditation for me. Also do a public journal. There are thoughts, feelings which I discern do not go public. They need composting, inside. I bash them into other thoughts, feelings, make a world and have the thoughts battle one another. It is hilarious watching Royal Global Thought Rumble in my mind. *chuckles* Often the outcomes are not what I expect.
So far, love keeps winning, at least in my "space". It beguiles other thoughts and feelings. "Look at me, I'm poor little love, so helpless." I nearly pity thoughts such as an elite cabal of bankers bent on global domination seeing "poor helpless love". That thought really has no idea what hits it. But for all the battles, they remain in mind. I realize truths about the world, about myself. I change myself and the world around me changes. I might be putting on different glasses. At least I am making a choice.
Also for all the mental masturbation, a little actual physical is enjoyable as well. No point denying that. It is simply what it is, a human caring for a human need. I find the release of the physical aids in letting go of stress at times. Am hopeful in some regards the wife will come round to enjoying intimacy again soon. No rush, I still love and respect her. Besides the physical act of well, fucking, is not the only way to be intimate. And we do have a good deal of intimacy in other ways. It was/is the same with elian, and it would be the same with anyone I took as a lover.
Guess that somehow makes me weird, being capable of love, compassion a bit of self sufficiency. Oh well, so it does. I'll keep on my path. Seems to be working out alright so far. Hopefully, one day people all over the planet can wake up. Then, they will realize we're all the same, different in minor ways, but the same base people. Then realize as we're all one with such trivial differences, no point remaining in physical bodies, we'll gradually begin illuminating the cosmos again as we ignite the star dust inside with love.
But who knows? We might all become a singularity of an ant hive.

http://www.examiner.com/article/us-evangelicals-behind-draconian-anti-gay-law-uganda
Me: you want to talk about the bible, good, I w'll get mine.
I went to get my wife's bible, and open up Ezekiel 23:19-20 please read it out loud.
One of them read the verse out loud, and when finished looked a little confused.
I asked, is that where you get your morality.
Me: Did you know that was in the bible
him:No, it must be problems with the translation.
Me: no, I don't think so, most of them seems the same.
Me: do you want to read more, there is plenty more.
him: no, and they started to back away.
I did say something more, but I'll leave it out here.
I just hope they wont have too many nigthmares trying to imagine what THAT verse would look like.

Hehehe GEAR! - I was speed reading this thread - got all the way to the bottom and all I saw was the word MORMONS and a picture of a "babe" bent over in "high gloss four" .. (shakes head, smiling)
..as for the whole "against masturbation" thing - aren't they about 200 years late to the party? The only vestige left of that behavior in mainstream society is circumcision and a big pile of S&M hardware that you can only order from catalogs.
I miss my cat sometimes, you know he just loved "escaping" to the outdoors if anyone left a storm door open for more than 7 seconds. The nice religious folks who stopped here would be soo embarrassed when he would get out and they'd have to go chasing down the street after him.
A PSA starring Brigham Young University president Kim B. Clark compares ignoring a masturbating roommate to leaving your war buddy behind on the battlefield:
I agree, you should always lend a hand to a friend in need...
My rule is "most things in moderation" - it is possible to abuse any situation or behavior if it becomes obsessive.

Oh, and are you in on this Fran? Your participation would improve all our optimism of success, methinks (though it might also make me rethink the significance of the harness )!
You couldn't keep Fran out of those suits I reckon. Wears em to work every day under her floral dress.
I have a very strong craving for toffee apples and glazed cherries after viewing those suits. Makes your mouth water don't they Annika?lol

Have you ever been in a room with 17 virgins? Are they thinking this is heaven? Mormons really need to drop the "m" in the middle of the name.

We must all walk our own path in life, sometimes we walk together and other times we wander apart. I think the most important thing to remember is that God loves us for who we are - not who we think we ought to be. That's not to say you shouldn't try to be responsible in your life and do what you believe in your heart is right, but I have seen so many people tear themselves apart over fear of judgment. There are much better ways to motivate yourself in life than fear and pain. I learned "love" from Jesus Christ (without divine love I would not be here) but I learned "forgiveness" from the Buddhist concept of lovingkindness..

moroni10,
I think you should begin to accept your sexual wants and masturbate, in private, like there's no tomorrow, heck, I do.
Please be very careful in your sexual learning/expansion/liberation...
never harm another; have no sexual expectations of others.
Moroni... the terrible danger, the horrible danger of sexual liberation of someone who has been sexually repressed...
is the expectation of sexuality of another during liberation.
Leave money out of it... any time someone includes money in sexual requirements... is 99.99% of the time manipulation.
You don't want 'paid for sex'... that is empty. You may not understand but it will not give any real fulfillment.
Masturbation is far above (morally) sex that requires money.
I don't know how to break this easy, but after reading your bisexual page...
As a man who's been around...
...someone is using you... exploiting you to profit (monetarily) themselves.
They/she clearly seems sincere to you... but $5 million...
Liberate yourself, but cease dealing with this Florida girl... just stop... she's lying about her feelings to you, she just wants whatever money you can get her... and she's telling you what you desperately need to hear... to get the money she wants. You won't want to believe what I'm saying because your positive sexual and emotional feelings are stronger than they've ever been. Once she's bled you of all the cash she thinks she can get from you... she's gone. That is her sole interest and manipulating you to feel love is her method.
You are so vulnerable at this time...
Please believe me.
You're lovable, everyone is. Never allow required money to...
Awww, hell, who am I kidding? You're in your late 50s and have not delved deep into love? Life has set you up for a fall and your feelings will override your intelligence/logic. You're not going to listen to me... gwan (go on)! Give her all your money from your parents inheritance, sign it over! She'll come up with a great reason to do so. It'll buy her a nice car. Then watch her disappear, probably with a restraining order against you (if she leaves you anything at all). Then masturbate. This annihilation of your feelings might just push you to the dark side, or suicide.
OMG
OMG
OMG
Moroni... don't do anything, just visit this site for 1 year before you give/sign money away.
There are thing's you just never realized.

Ok, so this is probably a troll post but I think it might make interesting reading for other people.
I don't know what you think "more like you alls" means exactly but frankly the only thing I am interested in is equal dignity and social/human rights for people regardless of what gender they love. I believe that who you fall in love with is not determined by a strict set of moral codes but is a part of your innate nature. I have always loved PEOPLE, gender never really seemed to matter until you all made it an issue.. I was taught to fear my sexuality, basically that I was worthless because I did not or could not conform to what other people believed was right...that was a mistake.
Yes, there is freedom in being able to feel worthy and powerful but this isn't some promiscuous hedonistic lifestyle choice that gives you a license to screw anything with legs, this is me - still trying to male the right choices, build a family and contribute back to the many people who have loved me since the day I was born. This is also me being able to grow old happy, and not alone. I'm not going to deny that I feel a deep emotional connection to half the people I love, regardless of what society says - society is just going to have to catch up. It puts me on uncertain moral ground but that is what living life is all about eh? Learning..
What I said was you don't need to be motivated to be a moral person through the pain and fear of death - that doesn't mean you can live your live without discipline, without regard for your own health or the health of your partner, friends and community. There is still plenty of potential for abuse, even if you no longer believe it's a sin to make a mistake.

Ah see, there is the fundamental difference of opinion .. I am talking about loving people, you are talking about fucking them and owning them. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion but my partner and I decided a long time ago that we don't "own" anyone - no one else makes you happy, or angry except for yourself. It is true that you can't change how other people act around you - but you CAN control how you respond to what they are doing.
If Jesus teaches anything, it is that all people are worthy of love, respect and compassion..how Christianity distorts that into "we are now, and never will be good enough" I'm not really sure.
"The Devil" is one thing, he is basically the anthropomorphic personification of all the things that human beings don't like about themselves. If he exists at all it is because we made him, but he's rather like the guy who tries to cheat at poker, badly. Think "Jack Nicholson" in "The Witches of Eastwick" .. in the end we all know that happens to poor 'ol Jack.
Satan on the other hand, I was never really thrilled about that energy, it makes me feel weird, uncomfortable and I don't like being around it. I would suggest you try something else - like sticking to the mundane realm and living your life in moderation .. there is plenty to learn here in "reality" just by interacting with other people.

You are far kinder than me, honey. I saw a desire to harm
others mentioned with Satanism and instantly ignored this entity.
Having delved into such practice many moon ago, experience teaches
what Satanism is and is not. This entity lacks that, either out
of ignorance, or deliberation. I saw no need to bother finding out
which. Instead I borrowed a Satanic principle. "Destroy the stupid
whom enter your lair." Ignoring them removes their power. Without
power they cease to exist. I am not harming them, merely giving them
back their weapon after realizing what it is. Maybe I am learning
that akkido stuff you were keen on. ;)
