View Full Version : Are Vampires Bisexual?

I've just read this short article
www.bimagazine.org/nonfict/pages/feature10.html
and wondered whether anyone else thought that vampires were bisexual, or could be identified as "bisexual" in some ways?
I think there is some element of ambiguity about vampires, but wonder whether this has anything to do with sex or the space they inhibit between one world and the next?
Thoughts please

I haven't read the article yet but Anne Rice, creator of the brilliant worlds of the Vampire Chronicles & the Lives of the Mayfair Witches said of her main
character Lestat, he's not bi. He simply loves whoever he's attracted to,
whether male or female.

Isn't that what defines most of us?
I'm a big Anne Rice fan, hell, it's where I took my nickname some 10 years back for online, but I have to disagree with her. I think most of her vampires are bisexuals. :2cents:
I read about half that above article. Have to get back to it later.

Some Vampires are bisexuals.... some are straight and some are gay/lesbian :-)
They are attracted to the same kind of people they were in life, once in awhile tho the straight ones might go after the same gender if they need to feed "now"
Vampire's are a interesting subject for me tho lol
Although I have pale skin, I was never goth but I had a thing for vampires, and being sick as a kid a lot, you got used to blood tests so I don't mind the sight lol
I like graveyards too.
I used to watch horror movies all the time... these days they mean nothing to me and Im like "THATS not scary at all!!" lol I believe in the paranormal tho.
The case of Mercy L Brown... the last american vampire in Rhode Island.... is a very interesting subject :-)
Oh well :-)

I have to say I have a real thing for vampires, <shiver> something about them really does it for me.
Personally, I think vampires are bisexual, but then they have a completely different sense experience to us about everything, and therefore being with a person of the opposite/same sex would feel completely different to how it does to us anyway! But then a lesbian vampire, oh is so hot!

Anne Rice is tops with her Vampire Chronicles...Brian Lumley has a different spin on vampires (Wamphyr) with his Necroscope series...But I think, as stated before (above) that they can be madly in love (lust) with whom ever they happen to be with be it male or female... :paw: :paw:
Heres another couple of sexy Vampire babes for Tasha...

oh i love this question! and my thee favorite answers to it that i, personally, have heard before are:
1) vampires are dead. they don't have sex. they can't control the flow of blood to... certain regions... therefor they can't be straight, gay or bisexual.
2) vampires were once human. sexuality carries over into their new "persona." if a gay man suddenly becomes a vampire... why would he suddenly want pussy?
3) vampires aren't real.

I was always attracted to the mystique of vampires from a very early age--as a child---I loved the old daytime serial "Dark Shadows"---when it was on some channel a few years ago--it did seem rather cheesy but I did love "Barnabus" and "Angelique"---
Other great cinematic vampires in my opinion were the ones from "The Lost Boys", Francis Ford Coppola's version of "Dracula" and I did like Tom Cruise as The Vampire Lestat in the movie version of Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire" Brad Pitt and Anotonio Banderas looked pretty good in that flick too.
I have always thought their was a great sexual charge that came from the whole vampire thing----as it has been portrayed in more modern films--the act of having the vampire drinking one's blood is not painful as it was portrayed in the older films-but the sensation is more like the ultimate orgasm----
Kate Beckinsale is the ultimate sexy vampire in the films she played a vampire---

Haha! Finally a feisty sense of humor! :P
Was your nurse licking at any wounds you had when she said this? Because that's the image I've got in my head now: In the tiniest nurses "outfit," licking at a cut on your arm and saying, "You're blood is SO pure!" *slobber* *slurp* *lap*
Gives me ideas for a drawing... ;)
And for the record... I think my old dentist was a vampire as well... He had dead eyes. :P

Oh? a drawing? I'll like to see that LOL
Its halloween :-) hmmm
NO the nurse didn't lick the wound lol But I can see why you would think that.
My vines are close to the skin.. in fact when Im hot, they REALLY stick out it seems... when I have blood tests, Ive had some say "ah, perfect... your vine is all ready." hehe
"Your blood is so pure and fresh.... " I think thats when you can tell a nurse has been watching a horror flick recently LOL
You know, I don't like crosses.......I like garlic... I HATE wooden stakes... Im way to pale and the sun does nothing to but gives me sunburns.... *runs to the mirror* I see me.... Im not a vampire I swear!! lol

Since vampires are fictional creatures, they can be anything you want
them to be. Some of you mentioned Ann Rice earlier? She's just one of the more famous vampire writers.
Dracula was definately straight. So sexual orientation varies from writer to writer, character to character.
I guess in a way, vamps can reproduce by biting others.

I love this Q bacause I think Vampires are awsome. I love gothic stuff. I think vampires are dead sexy. I agree with the concept that sexuality wouldn't change once you become one of the undead. (you can still have sex as a vamp cas dispite the whole blood flow arguement-if u can walk+tlk and kill peeps with cold blood u can have sex to )
But I think once you have the killer in you and are dead and the rules of the world no longer aply to you you are more open to all walks of life. try everything-bisexuality, drugs murder-the works.

But at the same time it was VERY funny. I won't post it since I don't want to offend people :-)
I don't think all vampires wear dark clothes and dark hair all the time tho :-)

"Watch any vampire movie and you are left with a similar impression - that of an enviably glamorous, beautiful, powerful yet ultimately doomed being. Free to move between the realms of the living and the dead, vampires are not confined nor adhere to the usual rules of human interaction. They inhabit a strange, indefinable space, avoiding proscriptive social dictates and enjoying the benefits of both worlds whilst belonging to neither. They transgress boundaries, and any labels bestowed upon them are always shown to be lacking."

Vampires and Bisexuals -
life, literature and the battle for our soul
i loved this article, especially since i've been dealing with some pretty hurtful statements from lesbian and gay friends and even my mother about what is allowable behaviour for bisexuals.
i have been very close to coming out to her, but she recently went on a rampage about bisexuals who couldn't commit to one partner, and who were "obviously too selfish to get their libido under control".
the concept that one might love 2 people at once is still frightening to most...
this article made me slow down and take in this fear: basically for the unknown; for those concepts which embody power through lack of limitation.
in "Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World", Andrea Toselli from Switzerland talks about his coming out as bisexual,
and he mentions a significant moment when a psychiatrist said to him:
"In my opinion, you are scared of the power that bisexuality gives you."
i'm working hard to accept and embrace this power, and hope that in doing so, the anger and the fear in those around me will dissipate.

I think that vampires are, or can be seen as bisexual, since they inhabit neither world, but are essentially prisoners of the realm they are condemned to walk in.
There is also a certain amorality to them. To pinch a phrase from Nietzsche, they are "beyond good and evil"
They are also "immortal", an intriguing concept ...

Ok... I saw a REALLY NICE Victorianish Vampire costume in the store today.... I saw this 2 days ago but decided against it. (also was the only one in stock)
I read this thread.... my mind goes back to the costume.... Im like "Im not getting it.. Im doing NOTHING for halloween"..... but its bothering me.. so I go to the store again to get some other things then decided to see if the dress is still there AND IT WAS lol (supposely if the only thing in stock is still there, you were meant to get it) although I had to wait before taking it cause 2 girls were looking at it hehe
So I got it.. AND I BLAME ALL OF YOU IN THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol ok without refering to any vampire writers and using the info directly from my * vampire * friends.... lol.... my friends are people that live the vampire life lifestyle to the extreme... and yes, it includes drinking blood
ok, a vampires sexuality is not changed before and after, but the sex drive of the vampire ceases to exist as the blood thrill is far better than the sex thrill
a vampires skin is dry and pale, not flesh coloured and moist, the only moisture a vampire takes, is that of blood....food and water is something that they can't ingest.....so their sexual organs can function, so try rubbing paper against ya sexual parts and see if that makes ya cum and that will tell you what sex with a vampire would be like
ok crosses don't affect vampires.....lol cos if holy water and crosses affected people, I would burst into flames every time i walked into a church
garlic doesn't affect a vampire unless its in the blood stream.... vampires perfer healthy people....and anything that affects the blood, affects the vampire
vampires fear flames and fire.... their skin is so dry, its highly flammable
to kill a vampire....well a stake thru the heart does nothing, cos they have no beating heart... so you can burn them or cut their heads off....or you can starve them to a state of hibernation.. a bit like humans.... we can't survive without water or food...but if we a forced to for a extended period..our bodys shut down and stay to hibernate.... the difference between us and a vampire, is we can die... a vampire can't die twice....so they go into a blood coma lol

Well, considering the unviverse has not boundaries and there
are infinite alternate realities and possibilites, then yes, vampires
do exsist. But not on this planet.

aw Tasha I want one. I almost bought one in Camden market once but I was with my mum and sis and it was in this goth shop called kiss which also sold whips and chains and stuff which mum thought was weird so she didn't let me have the dress so I spent too much money on a pair of bizarre designer goth tights in the shop instead. (they r so cool-pinks and purples with faces on them-creepy) I think vampires could exist on this planet. I'm not saying they do but I wish they did.

So what are people's favourite vampire films?
1. "Nosferatu" (1922)
The first and the best. German Expressionist film making at its height. Pregnant with symbolism for those who know where to look
2. "Near Dark" (1987)
The ambiguity and moral emptiness of the vampire laid bare
3. "Les Lèvres rouges" (1971), aka "Daughters of Darkness" (www.imdb.com/title/tt0067690/)
First saw this at the age of 14 - highly erotic

Ok...So first off, I absolutely loved this article. Now, to what I need to say...
I am a bisexual HLV. aka Human Living Vampire. For those of you who didn't know what an HLV was. So therefore, obviously, there are /some/ bisexual vampires. XD ha. But all vampires? No, I don't think so. I know many straight vampires.
And before anyone says anything about it...No, I'm not 'immortal,' though some vampires theorize that our souls are. No, garlic and holy symbols do not affect me, though I am very sensitive to light. And yes, I do occasional drink blood. But I'm mainly a psi HLV, so the blood drinking is rare. Mmm...so there ya go, you now have my opinion. Whether or not you wanted it. teehee

I think the whole atmosphere around vampires is made to be sensual and beautiful in a way that causes some kind of sexual tension within everyone, therefore giving off somewhat of a bisexual vibe. Vampires need to be seductive, alluring and appealing. It makes getting blood a lot easier. I mean, wouldn't you rather be seduced and then bitten by someone who looks like Brad Pitt, Stuart Townsend or someone who looks like that creature from Salem's Lot?
I wouldn't say that vampires are bisexual, maybe more so androgynous than anything, at least the male vampires seem that way.

this is just plain odd.
vampires are not real. people who claim to be vampires, drink blood for fetish amusement, and simulate common characteristics of a vampire are real.
so sexual preference is just circumstantial. however, blood is blood. so hypothetically, if a 'real' vampire materialized out of thin air from a bat, and into a tall dark haired (with a widow's peak of course) male with fangs... he could tap off anybody's jugular. right?

Anyone here read Carmilla. She was a lesbian vampire and the story predates Dracula infact some say Dracula was inspired by the storyf Carmilla.

I think Gentlepen has hit the nail on the head when she says that vampires are seductive and alluring, and there is some form of sexual magnetism about them.
I dont just mean in the Christopher Lee/Hammer House of Horror sense, but I feel that their life/existence has some sort of sexual pull for me in the emotional/spiritual sense of seducing people and turning them into acolytes to do your bidding ...
Perhaps its just the power they possess and wield over others which turns me on (between the ears as much as anywhere else on my body), and the fact that I would like to possess that power myself
