Well I must say we all went to the same skool were wee were edumacated. Anyone that make a descession*my spelling sucks* based on grammar and spelling is a joke. Hearts will be hearts though it is really too bad that there are some who are not willing to look beyond our stupid faults and see the really gold that lies within. I have always had some trouble with my spelling I lost my hearing at a young age they were able to correct it with tubes and surgery i still have trouble with sounding out stuff.

Tasha

As a relay operator for the deaf, I've seen the typing of allot of deaf and HOH people as well as allot of normal level hearing people. Everyone's spelling and grammar can be picked apart. Early onset deaf people do tend to use a very different grammatical structure but most of the time it's still fairly easy to see what they are saying, however your typing in here doesn't reflect ASL grammar. If someone is that hung up on spelling and grammar, just let it go :) it could be that they are saying it in a nice way (constructive criticism) to try to help you out (I have a friend that does this to me and I have learned that he is actually trying to help me, not hurt me) or they could just be a jerk copping out on you.
Let it go, and perhaps let that person go as well if they seem to be saying it to hurt your feelings or justify breaking off the email relationship.

Good Luck :D

K... I'll take the Devil's Advocate position here, Tasha

I admit that I don't like people who use 1337 speak or extremely shortened words or phrases (al u ppl no wat I meen?). IM is one thing, especially on a true keyboard, as I may need to get my point across quickly, but on a forum like this, I expect reasonable attempts at grammar and spelling.

If I were looking for a mate, I *would* pay attention to signs like how the person communicates - in the example above, 1337 speak may show that the person cares more about what s/he looks like than what is going on inside the head. Shortened words or phrases means to me that they are in too much of a hurry to care how their opinions get to the other person.

Now, Tasha, from what I have read of your posts, I don't see any negative signs in your writing style (but I have a pecker, so that counts me out :) ). I'd say what a whole bunch of other people are saying, that she's just a snob, and you wouldn't want to be around her much.

My :2cents: , add them up and buy a coffee :)

I was raised by a grammar/spelling nazi. My father made sure that I grew up knowing what is correct and what isn't. So when I see poor grammar or spelling that people didn't bother to check or fix, I wince. For me, it's akin to nails on a chalk board.

HOWEVER, said grammar/spelling nazi ALSO raised me to be mannerly and not point the mistakes out!! When she pointed out the mistakes Tash, she overstepped the bounds of good manners. If someone is going to judge you on your spelling or grammar without ever meeting you, it's really her loss.

Ya, I try my best to make sure spelling and grammar is ok. If I REALLY don't know the spelling and spellchecker isn't helping then I add the (sp) or (sp?) next to the word as to say I tried but couldn't get the right spelling and sometimes it seems to be a "ok" for someone to correct me when I do that since in a way, it is asking "correct me please!!" hehe

Sometimes I do cut and past a word from someone elses post if I wanted to use it to but can't spell it lol (Course if Im quoting someone I use the quote button to reply to that person.)
