Idea taken from our lovely Herbie the Love Bug :)
Anyone have good ideas how I can raise money to get the heck out of Penticton?? :)
I thought I would move somewhere near like Vancouver for now... to move back to Ontario would mean A LOT MORE money so Im thinking its cheaper to just move a couple hours away rather than a long one like Ont.
I could sell some stuff yes that I know I don't care or want anymore and I have a lot lol.
I could ask my friends for donations too but Im not sure since Im one of those people that hate asking for money unless I really have to. (always pay them back tho... even if they tell me not to lol)
So any ideas people??

Tash, do you know anyone that already lives there that you are friends with? Pick somewhere that you know people so that you can visit and check it out for job and living possibilities. They may even let you stay with them till you're settled enough to find your own place or maybe become room mates. That would help some of the financial burdens.

Arana, no, I dont know anyone in Vancouver other than the few I know online but I don't know them well enough yet.
The ones I know in Ontario are online too but there are Real Life friends but they already live with thier bfs so no.
The only online friends I know well don't even live in Ontario or BC.
Seems like Im on my own :(

Well, if you're worried about a job, you'd have no trouble finding work n Banff, Alberta. Heck, you could even have my old job (if you promise not to tell where you heard about it!!)
Of course, the downside is that there's not much pay at most jobs, but a lot of them include accomodations and even food. And there's even supposedly a GLBT meetup group through one of the local community organizations...
As for the job, PM me and I can give you some more dirt....

I may be having to quit my job as a cashier soon after just a month of working there.
I have solocris (sp... bad spine) but today, yikes, it was killing me. I thought I could just handle 4 hr shifts only but I guess working 4hrs almost every day isn't a good thing :( Im also gonna have to make a dr appt to get my spine throughly checked to see what stage my solocris (sp) is in. If its BAD then it requires surgery. Yikes!!!
I would much rather have a sit down kind of job but everywhere here requires phone use too which I can't do so thats kinda out of the question.
Right now my body is in a lot of pain and I can't sleep and I know I have to work at 10am. Im wondering if I should call in sick and just let myself rest tomorrow instead,
Ok, Im gonna go and try to sleep. I can't take pain meds or otherwise I'll never wake up on time for work tomorrow morning. Ugh!! hehe

Here's a thought. In the previous thread you mentioned that your parents would buy you a place. I say let them. Get a nice little two bedroom condo where you want to live, preferably near a large concentration of the deaf community. That way you have a support group close by.
Why two bedroom, you ask? Well, that way you can screen for a roommate and have them pay rent to cover a good chunk of your expenses. With the extra income you won't have to work unless you want to.
A three bedroom place would be even better if they'll spring for it. Those are more desirable should you ever decide to sell.
As for work, there ARE some companies that have TTY support numbers. Maybe you could get hired with one of those. Ken also suggests getting in contact with any deaf community support groups where you want to live and see what they can do to help.

This is a shot in the dark but worth a try. Look up Freecycle.org and see if they have a group local to you. Everything on Freecycle is free. It is a give and take site. A local trucker might move you for free, someone else might help you pack. We have used freecycle for a couple of years giving stuff away to people. Everything from building stairs for an old dog to get on the sofa to a crib for a needy unwed mother. There are people in the world that still care about others, give it a try. :2cents:

Hi Tasha,
I wish you good luck my dear, as far as a job is concerned I would advice you to find a sitting job, in an office for instance, a filing clerk or so on.
