We are expecting a storm tomorrow that will dump a foot here in Boston and another on Sunday that will give us six to eight inches......snow that is. All this on the busiest weekend before Christmas. I was supposed to cater two jobs...to make money for gifts and both parties have been cancelled. I have desided to make Token of Sharing to give as gifts....a service for those friends and family....Dinner out for my brother and his wife who have two young children..babysitting included. Spring Cleaning for an elderly aunt. ETC...so even though the weather will not cooperate...I am happy this holiday season.

My daughter just moved to Boston and was planning a Christmas party this weekend. She's a bit anxious for her first nor-easter.
Hope y'all stay safe and warm.

Well-this week here--we haven't had much snow yet--but we had a few days that we had solid frozen precip-----and that made the roads pretty bad and worse----you could hardly walk outside--I could barely get to the mailbox without falling down and damn---I stepped out of the car the other day--my foot went down on some ice and I almost slipped----I caught myself between the car and the door--but that hurt a bit---
I will take the snow---but forget the ice!!!!

I'm praying that the friggin snow takes a day off tomorrow (like it's supposed to) and that the road crews do a really super job tonight. Tomorrow we're planning to meet (for the 1st time) the bi poly couple that we want to hook up with. The friggin snow already made us cancel once before.

One day last week, here in central Florida, just before daylight it got down to 48 . As the sun was beginning to peek over the horizon, I walked up the hill to get the paper. A fellow rode by on his motorcycle and it looked like he was wearing every stitch of clothes that he owned! If he had fallen off that sucker, there's no way he could have been hurt.
This morning, the thermometer in the tree by the back door, read 61.
Although, I was born and raised here, I lived most of my working life in colder climates. Over the years I have spent some wonderful times in front of a fireplace, or snuggled into a downy quilt, with a lover or two, and must say there's some great memories, there!
I learned early-on that a generator was worth it's weight in gold and being prepared for any eventuality was mandatory!
Snuggle in, folks, and catch up of the more tender side of life!

cat: you guys have had so much snow that it's making our news here, 3500 miles away !
Belle: great sideways thinking, my family used to do that too many years ago... we volunteered as designated drivers too, and I still do that.
I feel for the people of Ottawa Ontario (Canada's capital) who are entering day 11 of a bus strike in this rotten cold icy weather. They figure there are approx. 150,000 additional cars heading into the city each day, and a commute that USED to take approx. 1 hour is now taking 3-4 hours... and, of course, same thing getting back home in the evening. Many of my friends in the city don't have cars either, so they are really in dire straits. The weather turned really cold the day the bus strike started...!
so yep, let's snuggle down if we can and thank our lucky stars that some of us don't have to go out in it.

Yep, its just about papalyzed Seattle. All of those people not knowing how to drive in Large amounts of snow, or those not being able to cope with the damn thick ice Under the snow. The roadways are horrendous, and many are just stopping where they can and walking away from their vehicles. I worry about my friends that are having to travel for business and worry about them getting home, or to where they are suppose to be next..:(
My good friend Wanderingrichard is due to fly into Seattle tomorrow after being in Georgia. And I told him he was flying in to nasty yuckiness..lol. He was not amused with my candor..lmao
Anyway, ya'll stay as warm and dry and safe as possible out there, no matter where you are.

This is my second winter in the Sunshine State after a lifetime in the north east, and I miss the snow, especially right near the holidays.
For all my friends that are in the midst of this dangerous weather, be warm be safe and mind your backs when you shovel.
And if I might be so bold.... would someone PLEASE toss a couple of snowballs for me? :tong:

I have all most three feet on my snow stake out back, had 16 inches over night last Saturday, suppposed to get another foot by Sunday. The powder skiing is great! We need more only 90% of average for this time of year. Remember 80% of the world's water supply comes from snow.

I happen to live in an area that got hit the first couple of days so I had about an inch of snow on top of about two inches of ice. After having gone out just to get out the first day I decided not to leave again until I had too. Yesterday I had tickets to The Nutcracker so I had to go out. For the most part on the main roads all of the ice is gone, but all of the pebbles they put out are still there. There are so many, on bare road, that I almost ended up in an intersection from sliding. It wouldn’t be much of a problem, but I usually go out at night and the pebbles are the same color as the road. Just from sitting home I can tell I am not the only one sliding around. I keep hearing wrecks about a block away.

UPDATE FROM BOSTON..........
It is nearly eleven on Saturday morning and the snow has been falling for twenty hours and shows no signs of stopping ( sounds like a nice verse for a Christmas song). I was out all night snow plowing or cooking for the guys at my job that were out on the road. The snow here is heavy in this storm and more is coming tomorrow. I will be the Snow Belle on the road for sure.

Missy,
No one can appreciate NOT having the cold and snow, unless they've experienced it for themselves. I was born and raised in Florida, but worked all my life, until retirement and a little beyond, in colder climates. However, you can't beat snuggling up with a lover in front of a fireplace, while the world is covered in snow! I'm sure you have experienced that!
It's 71 and sunny, here. I'm planning to go do a little fishing today, but I'd gladly trade it for an afternoon with a sweet lover and the things we could share!
Warm thoughts and wished for you and yours.
'nuff said.............................

Realist. i have a love/ hate relationship with snow. i love snow a lot actually. i hate it because i can't play in it. i have a genetic type Raynaud's Disease. i wasn't being super serious. i get envious because i have to look out the window while others work and play. i miss florida. my body was so free there. up here it is not. i appreciate NY and Flroida. i am in NY because i have to be though i desire to be in florida where my body is so free. in the winter i am alone a lot. even though i have a relationship i dont get out as much right now. hard to make friends just have to wait until it is warmer.
love and kisses,

Thank you, God, or Mother Nature, or whoever controls the weather . . . And a big thank you and God bless you to the wonderful road crews. We had enough of a break in the snow that we were able to keep our date and really enjoyed meeting each other!

It is great to have the ability to change our names to fit an image, desire, or just being tired of the old one.
I noticed you re-did your profile. (I often check them to get a feeling for those I respond to.) I especially like the 3rd new photo...nice! Pensive, calm, retrospective.....
How good it is to meet folks with so much distance between us and then become friends. I wish I had found this site years ago! Being bisexual, even mildly so, can be a lonely existence!
Stay warm and be careful if you must drive!

I think we're up to 12 inches at my house outside of Olympia, with a half-inch of ice on top from the freezing rain we had last night. And it's still snowing. Woohoo!
Now, I know that 12 inches is nothing to many places, but in these parts, it's usually considered a snowy winter if we've had a few inches off and on between December and March! So 12 inches at one time is a pretty big deal around here....
(I'm dreaming of a white Christmas/just like the ones that others have....)
Peace

We got 5" last Tuesday and close to a foot last Friday into Saturday. Yesterday was one of the worst weather days in many years It never got above -5 all day and the wind was blowing close to 30 mph all day. There was much drifting and roads drifted over right after they plowed. Several N/S routes were closed. It's not expected to get above single digits today and still windy but not as bad as yesterday, so hopefully we can get some of these drifts plowed. Last winter was one of the worst in recent memory and this one appears to be just as bad. Global warming, yerass!
I first posted the above at 5:38AM. It's now 6:18 and I just heard the forecast. Wind warning until noon today, wind chill is -30 right now. Up to another 5" tonight.

We're really snowed in on Queen Anne hill...can't get out...about 4 more inches (not the good kind) added yesterday evening and last night...don't think they'll ever plow or sand our street. We'll just have to wait till the thaw. More on the way in a couple of days too.
