Depends how big your town is. There might be GBLT organizations, centers, and events, especially if there is a college near you. In Lexington, our center has the occasional art showing or something, but the University of Kentucky's center has events all the time, and when the public library has "literary speed dating" around Valentine's Day, they have a straight night and a GLB night. In Lexington, we are really well integrated into mainstream society, not segregated into gay things and straight things. Also, you might try meetup.com, where you can find social groups of all kinds, but particularly for Kentucky there is one called Lexington Lesbian Coffee House that has events outside of Lexington too.
